Indoor obstacle courses are used to improve fitness and coordination skills. Agility and technique on the obstacle course can be tested by means of time measurement.
The following is an example of an indoor obstacle course used in the military:
Implementation regulations:
Forward roll: the participant performs a forward roll on the small soft mat
Forward roll: The participant performs a forward roll on the small soft mat.
Slalom: The participant goes around the poles in a slalom, whereby it does not matter on which side the first pole is passed. If the participant touches a pole in such a way that it falls over, penalty seconds are added to the total time at the finish (2 seconds per pole that falls over).
Crouch/Jump Over: The participant crawls under the first and third middle sections of the Swedish box, and jumps over the middle element.
Balance: The participant jumps/climbs onto the (first) Swedish box and balances over the narrow side of the long bench to the other Swedish box, from where he jumps down to the ground to continue the run. If the participant falls down, the element must be repeated (restart at the turning point).
Low jump: The participant jumps over/climbs over/climbs over the second bar, whereby the first bar must be passed under (underclimbing) in order to reach the ground of the bar between the two bars first. The most common way of jumping over the horizontal bar is for the participant to hold on to each bar with their hands, jump from the floor of the parallel bars, using their arms to support them, in order to get one leg onto the lower bar. The gymnast then pushes off with the supported leg from the lower bar, enabling him to cross the upper bars with the support of the free-swinging leg. However, there are also other ways to move the body over the upper bars (see crossing the beam obstacle in the outdoor track).
Jumping over: The competitor jumps over the two obstacles. Possible variations for crossing are a tuck jump or swinging the legs sideways over the Swedish box/pommel horse. The soft mat between the two elements must be touched by the competitor. Jumping from the first to the second obstacle is therefore not allowed.
Crawling under: The competitor crawls under the large soft mat.
