Power

  • ...is the ability of the nerve-muscle system to overcome resistance (concentric work), counteract it (eccentric work) or maintain it (static work) through innervation and metabolic processes with muscle contraction.

  • ...is the most important prerequisite for asserting oneself in the earth's gravitational field.

  • ...influences self-confidence and self-esteem as well as performance and resilience.

Strength is used to increase sport-specific performance. As it represents a more or less pronounced performance-determining factor in some form in almost every sport, its sport-specific development must be given a significant role. Optimal individual performance cannot be realised without a minimum level of strength. It is also essential for injury prevention and a healthy posture.

Factors that influence strength

  • Muscle fibre cross-sectional area

  • Length of the muscle fibres

  • Muscle fibre spectrum

  • Intramuscular coordination

  • Intramuscular coordination

  • Will and motivation

  • Mastery of the technique
